I woke up this morning with the happiest heart. I don’t know why I love Valentine’s Day so much? Maybe it’s because every single Valentine’s Day, growing up, my mom and dad found some way to make it special. No matter what day it fell on, my little sister and I always had some sweet surprise waiting for us. Or maybe it’s because I’m a serious girly-girl, and it’s the only day I can wear all pink and get away with it? Whatever the reason may be, this holiday will always be special to me.
The past TWO Valentine’s Days, my boyfriend and I have both been plagued with the stomach flu. Yes, V-Day 2012 and V-Day 2013 were both spent hugging the toilet/recuperating. Absolutely miserable. But no matter how sick we’ve both been, that sweet man miraculously found ways to deliver a Valentine surprise. So needless to say, my heart is extremely happy today. We are both healthy, and get to spend a normal Valentine’s Day together…sans the toilet. I guess what they say is true; third time’s a charm! 😉
If you are single and reading this you probably want to punch me in the face right now. I swear I’m not always this mushy, and that’s certainly not the intention of this post. Despite your relationship situation…single, married, dating, divorced, party animal, queen of misery, whatever…I hope you remember how much you are loved today.
“We love because He first loved us.” – 1 John 4:19
Whether you loathe or love this holiday, perhaps remembering that little statement above will make your day just a tiny bit brighter. And from my heart to yours, I wish you a Happy Valentine’s Day!
