I have a confession to make — I fell victim to the hype of Pinterest fitness. I ignored all common sense, and bought a pair of shoes simply because they were pinned like 243257375635876 times…and they were pink.

Granted, they were fabulous, and were perfect for strength training, but they were terrible running shoes. For some, they might have been perfect, but for my high-arched, wide feet, they were a definite no-go. My knees and hips were achy after only two runs.

So I had to suck it up, gather my common sense, and buy some GOOD running shoes. If you’ve fallen victim to Pinterest, and are suffering through long runs just for the sake of good lookin’ Instagrams, stop. it. Life is so much better with the right shoes!

Do yourself a favor and hit up your local running store. Not Foot Locker or Finish Line (even though I do love both of those), a running store with employees who will help you find the best shoe for your feet. If you’re in Lubbock, I highly suggest Foot Tech; they are great! And if you’re in Midland, try Run This Way; you won’t be disappointed.

After watching me walk barefoot, and listening to exactly what I was looking for in a shoe, the sweet woman at Foot Tech brought out a few options. I ended up going with the Newtons. And guess what? They’re pink. Score.

Bright and comfy, just the way I like ’em!

Newton running shoes are awesome for forefoot strikers. I seriously feel like I can run 100 miles when I have them on.

And all Newton shoes are this colorful. Pretty fun, right?

This post is not to convince you to try Newtons, it’s to inspire you to find the RIGHT running shoe for you. Don’t get discouraged, and don’t be afraid to ask for help. It will change your life; trust me.

And while you’re at it, get some good socks!

I had been wearing Walmart socks for years; it was time for a change. I tried Balega socks, and they rocked my world.

So get off your cute butt and get the right shoes (and socks) for YOU. It will be well worth your time.

Stay fit, friends! Xo

How is the sizing for you? Did you have to go up or down your regular size?
